Halloween

This week our theme is Halloween. We have been creating lots of cute SpOoKy decorations for our classroom and to bring home with us! We have been talking about what Halloween means to us.  At circle each child answered the question "What does Halloween mean?", many of the children answered with, "Trick-or-treating", but the word "ghost" always gets brought up and with young children it is always nice to reiterate what Halloween should be for them, and not get them scared.  So after discussing what Halloween means to 3, 4 and 5 year old  children, we listened to the book Our Haunted House, by Bud Simpson.  The book was about two young children who move into a big old house and hear lots of new noises.  In the end they discover all the noises they were hearing was just their lost kitty cat who found them!  After reading the book, we discussed how there is no such thing as monsters and there is always an explanation for noises that we hear and things that we may see in the dark.

Check out some of our SpOoKy projects!
